The Skete of Saint John the Baptist (Iviron Monastery)
It was built near the ancient Skete «Magoulas», in which St. Callistus former Patriarch of Constantinople used to live ascetically. The Skete took its current form in the 15th century. It consists of 13 huts, while its main church was founded and adorned with frescoes in 1779. Great spiritual men lived ascetically here. The huts are scattered on the slope of a small ravine. The greatest hut is the one of St. Nicholas, also known as the New Martyrs hut.
