Description

Apostle Paul, the apostle to the nations, was hand-picked by Jesus to become the gospel’s most ardent messenger. Paul travelled tirelessly through the ancient world, taking the message of salvation to the Gentiles. Paul towers as one of the all-time giants of Christianity.

The iconography was crafted in the workshop of father Pefkis, former student of the Athonite Academy on Mount Athos and in accordance with the principles of the Byzantine iconography and art. In this specific iconography he is portrayed on carved natural wood with a background adorned with gold leaves. The Church commemorates him on June 29 along with Saint Peter. Both of them were the cornerstones of our Faith since the sacred institution of the Church of Christ was created with their help.

Apostle Paul holds the Gospel of Christ in his hands, which he preached to every creature and all nations.
