Description

The Byzantine hagiography refers to the Divine worship. For the functional needs of the Church, in honor and memory of the Saints celebrated every day, icons were produced that serve as a means of worship in the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi on Mount Athos. They are kept as a sacred legacy, more than three thousand icons dating from the 12th until the 20th century, while photos of icons of this period (12th-15th century) are published in this volume. These icons prove the high spirituality and artistic flowering of the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi.
