In this artwork all the dogmatic terms that are forming the theological posture of the divine-human form of Christ are successfully attributed. The facial expression is given according to the standards of the Byzantine art of Mt Athos. Christ is wearing a red robe and above this, a pleated blue robe is wrapped.
With his left hand he is tightly holding the gospel in his chest, pointing that he is the founder of the New Testament, while with his right hand he is vividly forming the blessing posture, symbolizing in this way His prelacy. Taking into account all the general characteristics of the Almighty, his supernatural spirituality is vividly expressed. The lithographic icon of Christ has been placed by the monks who live at the Holy Hut of St. George on Mount Athos, in a wood derivative, which has been worked with wax and resin. By applying high temperature, the wood took this particular shape and its distinctive black color.
This unique work of Byzantine art has been coated with gloss varnish in order to remain unchanged over time.
