Dry red wine- Karakallou Monastery
With abundant tears and a pleasant aftertaste, this dry, red wine from the Karakallou Monastery accompanies ideally grilled meat and pasta with red sauce. Content: 750ml
The tradition of the winemaking art is still preserved today on Mount Athos in a robust level. There are certain places, the so-called vagenaria, that are usually underground, where the wine is produced and maintained in large oak barrels. In the Karakallou monastery on Mt Athos – Greece the production doesn’t exceed the five tones. Deep purple in color, this dry red table wine bears a strong flavor of fresh red fruits. With abundant tears (which we can notice if we observe the texture, the thickness, the size and the movement of the wine in the glass as well as its liquidity) and a pleasant aftertaste, it accompanies ideally grilled meat and pasta with red sauce. It is a monastic varietal wine, Grenache rouge and has an alcohol concentration of 13%. It is best served at 16-18o C. The production and bottling of the wine takes place at the Karakallou Monastery on Mount Athos. The 750ml bottle is adorned with a sketch of the Monastery and a Byzantine emblem.
