Description

Father Paisios is known and beloved not only in Greece but also in the rest of the world. His hagiography has been crafted on natural wood with the traditional colors of the Byzantine art, while the frame and the halo are adorned with 22K gold.

It was created by the monks-hagiographers at the cell of Saint Makarii and the region of Saint Basil on Mt Athos. Clergymen, monks and common people who knew him, recognize in the hagiographies after his repose, the authenticity of the Byzantine art in the representation of the characteristics of the most popular Athonite monk of all time. The genuine love of this Holy man for other people and God became known with his repose in July 1994. As a model of divine proximity in the modern era, Father Paisios is depicted wearing his robe and cap while holding his stick and a scroll.
