Description

At the Skete of Saint Anne Minor, the Monks serve Greek ground coffee made with an old recipe whose origins are lost in the mists of time.

The monks of the area used to blend various green-uncooked coffees; they roasted them with spices and created a unique blend for the visitors as well as for themselves. The exceptional taste of this monastery product was received well right from the start by the pilgrims who wanted to bring these unique scents and flavor of Mount Athos at home.

A fresh roasted, blonde Greek coffee, with rich aroma, that is full of flavor and has made with love by the monks who live on Mount Athos.

It is offered in elegant packaging and is available via the Mount Athos product exhibition for all those who appreciate the Greek Orthodox tradition.

How to make Greek coffee

Add water to a briki. A briki is a small sort of pot used to boil Greek coffee. It is made of brass or copper and has a long handle. Put 1 tsp. of the ground coffee beans into the briki as well as your desired amount of sugar. Use the measuring teaspoon to stir the coffee and sugar into the briki’s water. Let the coffee sink to the bottom of the briki and dissolve the sugar into the water. Place the briki over a gas burner. Heat the briki on low until the water just starts to boil. An incomplete ring of foam should form on the coffee’s surface. Remove the briki from the heat before the foam ring closes. Pour the coffee into its cup and serve.
