Description

The adoration and respect for the Virgin only gave to her a number of names, but introduced her in iconography as well. The main iconographic type originated from the ancient type of mother with her newborn baby in her arms. This unique Byzantine art is crafted with the method of silk-screen printing in the iconography workshop of father Pefkis and is finished in hand.

This copy presents Virgin Mary in golden background, embracing the infant Christ, who holds in his left hand the globe and blesses with the right. The halos are elaborately decorated and the upper corners of the image and two angels are painted in reverent attitude. Christ and the Virgin Mary appear to be motionless. But at the same time, all persons have a their own pace declaring an internal movement.
