Hagiography Virgin Mary Holding Baby Jesus – Composition
The Mother of God is wearing a green tunic, a reticulum of the same color and a bright red maphorion with a triangular opening on the cleavage area. The chevron on her right shoulder is adorned with fringes. Virgin Mary is illustrated in bust, with both her body and head leaning towards Christ, while holding him with her left arm.
Christ is dressed in a white tunic and orange clothing. He is blessing, with his right hand while holding a scroll with his left one. On the conical neck, the head of Christ makes a slight movement while gazing at the viewer. On the upper left and right side of Virgin Mary’s halo, on the gold font, the inscription «ΜΡΘΥ» with capital Greek letters can be found.

The icon has been crafted by Father Pefkis, who has studied at the Athonite Ecclesiastical Academy on Mount Athos. He was taught the art of byzantine iconography from monk – professor, Ioannis Branos, one of the most distinguished and skilled connoisseurs of the Byzantine Iconography.
