The Evangelist of Love, Saint John the Theologian, was, according to tradition, the beloved pupil of the Lord. Apart from the Gospel of John, he also wrote the New Testament’s book, Apocalypse. The icon of the saint is crafted in the workshop of the student of Athoniada Ecclesiastical School father Pefkis.

Saint John the Theologian is the Evangelist of love not only because he constantly refers to love in his texts but mainly because he lived through it all his life.
The hagiography of Father Pefkis describes the metaphor of Saint John the Theologian, while in the open gospel he keeps showing the beginning of the evangelical text he wrote.
Saint John the Theologian, or John the Evangelist, was Christ’s beloved disciple according to ecclesiastical tradition.
Saint John the Theologian was born in Galilee. His brother was James and his father Zebedeeus. His family was poor and lived by fishing. Both he and his brother did not acquire formal education as since their childhood they helped their father. From his young age he was a spiritual and restless person and followed Christ, being his first disciple.
John wrote the fourth Gospel, which was described as the “Spiritual Gospel” and is called “Theologian”. He taught in Minor Asia and Greece. He died in Patmos, where he was exiled with other Christians by Emperor Domitian. On this island he wrote the famous New Testament book, Apocalypse.
Saint John the Theologian is considered to be the Holy Protector of Heart and Heart Diseases. His memory is celebrated on May 8 and his Metastasis on September 26.
The icon with the saint John the Theologian has been crafted in the Byzantine icon workshop of Father Pefkis and bears his signature, which also means the authenticity of this copy, which thus bears the seal of the tradition of Mount Athos.
Hagiography has been crafted with excellent quality materials in natural wood. The painted surface is covered with a pure beeswax to keep it intact with bright colors.
The Byzantine workshop of Father Pefkis, since 1980, deals with the production of copies of portable images of the Byzantine and post-Byzantine period in accordance with the Athonite style.
