Description

Incense Case with the Last Supper

An elegant wooden incense case from the workshop of the professor of Byzantine iconography, father Pefkis. This is a wonderful handicraft on the lid of which, on the outside, there is a representation of the Holy Monastery of Simonos Petra on Mount Athos. In addition, on the inside of the lid there is a second representation, that of the Last Supper. An incense case necessary to store and properly preserve incense. This incense case rests on metal legs, while it has a wonderful clasp to secure.

According to the Ecclesiastical tradition, burning incense is an act with deep symbolism. Specifically, the beautiful fragrance that comes from incense is the fragrance of the grace of the Holy Spirit, while the smoke that ascends symbolizes our prayers, which ascend to God.
