Description

Saint Luce is one of the four evangelists.  He is also one of the associates of Paul the Apostle. According to tradition, Loukas the Evangelist is the author of the third gospel (“At Lukan”) and the “Acts of the Apostles”. His memory is celebrated by Christians on October 18th.

An old tradition descibes him as the painter Loukas. He is the one who created the icon of the Virgin Mary. This tradition presupposes the orthodox ecclesiastical hymnology. In the Western Christian world, St. Luke is the protector of artists, doctors, surgeons, students.
