At the Holy Patriarchal and Stavropegic Monastery of Saint Dionysios of Olympus, this exceptional thyme honey is being produced and packaged. With its amber color, its unique flavor and distinctive aroma, the thyme honey is considered the “King of Honeys” due to its excellent quality. Furthermore thanks to the iron that it contains it helps restore health in cases of anemia while its high choline content is beneficial for people suffering from internal diseases. It belongs to the flower honeys however it is in fact a separate honey category because of its intense aromas and the unique flavor characteristics that it has. The production accounts for an estimated 10% of the total honey production in Greece while the flowering lasts 30-40 days depending on the weather conditions and the geological conformation of the area. This monastic product is being collected by the beekeepers-monks of the Holy Monastery during the months July and August. Store in a cool and dry place. It is available from the Mount Athos product exhibition.
