Neck amulet made of gold plated silver

This amulet of pure silver and gold plated outline is made by monks at Mount Athos. Both a jewel and an amulet can be a beautiful gift for our friends or relatives. This neck cross is made with special emphasis on detail, with careful work and care and is part of a great collection with crosses and amulets from silver or gold that is available from Product Exhibition of Mount Athos. This particular amulet can be worn from both sides because it has representations of Virgin Mary and Saint Nicholas.

At the first side of this amulet there is a relief representation of  Saint Nicholas who is the patron saint of sailors. According to tradition Saint Nicholas is said to have visited the Holy Land but the ship he was on was nearly destroyed by a terrible storm. Then a miracle happened and he rebuked the waves, causing the storm to subside. At the other side there is Virgin Mary Sweet Kissing. The face of Virgin Mary Sweet Kissing (Glykofilousa) is always close to the face of her child. Virgin Mary is Known by many different epithets that has been given to Her through the history of Orthodox Church. One of these names is Glykofilousa which means Sweet Kissing.
