Description

Gold Plated Lithography with Saint Galini

Saint Galini was one of the eight martyrs who gave their lives for their faith. All of them lived in the years of King Decius and came from the Peloponnese. According to Orthodox tradition, the ruler of Corinth learned that they were Christians, who even openly declared their faith and ordered their arrest, something that happened around the time of Jesus’ Resurrection. All of them, including Saint Galini, were led before the ruler and all of them refused to convert. The sentence imposed on them was death, as the soldiers led them to the sea and after tying stones to their bodies threw them into the water. Such was their faith that they sang all the way and until the moment they were thrown into the sea they did not lose their courage for a moment.
