Description
Antique Lithography with Saint Hypomone
Saint Hypomone came from a royal generation and was a Christian with deep faith in God. At the age of 19 she married Manuel II Palaiologos, a few months before becoming an Emperor. As an empress, she loved the people, while at the same time she was a blessed mother of eight children, to whom she taught the Christian faith. She, after the death of her husband, became a nun, in the Monastery of Lady Martha, under the name Hypomone (Patience), while three of her children chose the same path. God called her to Him on March 13, 1450 AD, having spent 35 years as Empress and 25 as a humble nun.
