Antique Lithography with Saint Miltiades

Saint Miltiades was a pope of Rome. According to historical data, he came from Africa and his name was Melchiadis the African. It is characteristic that Saint Miltiades became Pope after the issuance of a decree by the Roman emperor Galerius ending the persecutions against Christians. In fact, during his time as pope, decrees were issued on the freedom of religion of the Roman emperors Galerius, Constantine and Licinius. Saint Miltiades martyred under the emperor Maximinus and was buried on Appia Street. His memory is honored by the Orthodox Church on April 10.
