Description

A unique place, between the numerous Saints of the Greek Orthodoxy, is held by the Archbishop of Myra who lived at the time of the persecutions of Diocletian and took part in the First Ecumenical Council, in which he vanquished Arius.

In this specific iconography, the Saint is depicted in strictly frontal pose from the waist up, old with a round and short white beard and a gold background. With his right hand he is blessing, while with his left one, which is wrapped in the vestments, he is holding a gospel which is decorated with precious stones and various designs.
