St John’s wort for healing properties

St. John’s wort or balsam has taken its name from the Knights of Jerusalem who treated their wounds with this herb after the battles. This plant combined its name with the healing properties it has and with the calming effect that helps with anxiety, stress and insomnia.

St John’s wort: Properties

This herb is most commonly used to help with the symptoms of such as nervousness, tiredness, poor appetite and trouble sleeping. Some reports suggested St. John’s wort might reduce nervousness, help with migraine and headache and it also can help with herpes by reducing symptoms like burning and pain. It also helps with the symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes and mood changes. This herb also helps with a mood condition related to changes in the season (seasonal affective disorder). St. John’s wort is maybe the most famous herb for wound healing and reduce scar formation.

Preparation

Add a tablespoon of the herb in a pot and then put inside boiled water. Leave it for about five – ten minutes and then strain it. If you want to add a bit of sweetness to your tea, try adding a small spoonful of honey.
