The stamp is a necessary aid for the decoration of kolyva, while this one also has two handles to be easily placed on the wheat. The preperation of Kolyva is one of the oldest Christian customs and we prepare them on Saturdays commemorating the souls of the dead, as well as every time we want to perform a memorial prayer in the church for the rest of our loved ones who have died.

What kolyva symbolizes

According to the Church kolyva symbolizes the common resurrection of the people. In fact, each of the materials used for the preperation of kolyva has its own symbolism. Specifically, wheat symbolizes souls, whitened almonds symbolize bare bones and nuts the life it reproduces, while breadcrumbs and flour symbolize light soil. The pomegranate for Christians symbolizes the splendor of Paradise, the spices are the aromas of this world, the raisins the sweetness of life, but also Christ who is the vine, while the sugar symbolizes the sweet Paradise.
