The name of Virgin Mary Amolyntos derives from the hymn of the Compline composed by monk Paulos.
It is also named the Virgin of Passion. Christ is depicted looking towards the angels who are illustrated above Virgin Mary holding the symbols of Passion, i.e the Cross, The Spear and the Sponge.

This unique work has been crafted by father Pefkis, graduate of the Athonite Ecclesiastical Academy. The hagiogrpahy has coated with pure beeswax which protects the colors and prevents the icon from damage.
