Description

This unique work of art dates back to 1906 AD. Holder of the original work is the Sanctuary of the Holy Trinity – St. Nectarios of Aegina. The icon of Panagia Iviritissa faithfully replicates the type of the oldest miraculous image of Mount Athos, Virgin Mary Portaitissa from the Holy Monastery of Iviron, which according to the tradition was painted by Evangelist Luke.

Here we have an exact copy of the icon which was painted in accordance with the printing process, Fine art giclee and the opti plex technique (combination of photographic printing and acrylic glass). The original artwork can be found in the Holy Monastery of St. Nektarios of Aegina and was crafted in 1906 by monk Panaretos. The artist belongs to the known Brotherhood of Iosafaion, who lived as monks in the 19th century in Kafsokalyvia of Mt Athos and were carriers of a new art that renewed the expressive means of the Orthodox tradition.
