However, there is a second version. According to that a monk was sitting sad because he could not learn to knit a prayer rope. Then Virgin Mary appeared to him and asked him why he was sad. And he replied: «I can not learn to knit a prayer rope». Then Virgin Mary gave him the seeds of this particular plant and said to him: «Take my tears, cultivate them and make prayer ropes. And say: Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me. Oh Holy Mary save us».
