Sage for the reduction of blood sugar concentration

Greek physician Dioscorides reported that sage stopped bleeding of wounds and cleaned ulcers and sores. He also recommended sage juice in warm water for hoarseness and coughs. It was used by herbalists externally to treat sprains, swelling, ulcers and bleeding. Nowadays it is known that it helps with blood sugar concentration.

Sage: Properties

Sage is highly serviceable as a stimulant tonic in debility of the stomach and nervous system and weakness of digestion generally. It has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and antibacterial properties and it has been used effectively for throat infections, dental abscesses, infected gums and mouth ulcers. Sage also reduces muscle tension and has an anti-spasmodic action which reduces tension in smooth muscle. It is an excellent remedy for helping to remove mucous congestion in the airways and for checking or preventing secondary infection. It relieves indigestion and is also of value in the treatment of dysmenorrhoea. It can help you to relax, reduces menopausal symptoms and it improves memory.


Add a tablespoon of the herb in a pot and then put inside boiled water. Leave it for about five – ten minutes and then strain it. If you want to add a bit of sweetness to your tea, try adding a small spoonful of honey.
